Manicure Questions
What is the difference between a manicure, a Shellac manicure and a Gel manicure? All manicures are a beauty treatment of the hands. Your nails will be cut, filed, buffed and shaped. Your cuticles will be tidied, and then you will enjoy a arm and hand massage. The final step will be the painting of the nails with a colour of your choice. This is where the difference between the 3 types of products we use on your nails.
* a regular manicure uses Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics nail polish. This product lasts about a week with minimal chipping
*a Shellac manicure uses a a patented hybrid nail polish combining the ease of polish with the performance of gel. It offers 14+ days of high-shine, chip-resistant wear and cures under LED light. The removal process involves soaking the polish off the nail with acetone without using a drill to file it off
*a Gel Manicure uses a hard wearing Gel polish that lasts 3+ weeks with out chipping and cures under a LED light. You can build tips at the end of your nails to elongate the nails. To remove the Gel we use a drill. We use a Canadian Gel called Magic Gel Builder.
Laser Questions
How does it work?
The Primelase permanently reduces hair and treats a broad range of skin tones and hair types. Laser produces a beam of concentrated light that is selectively absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle. Heat energy causes thermal damage to the follicle. Laser hair removal is most effective when the hair is in an active growth cycle. Not all of the hairs are in in this phase at the same time; therefore, several treatments are necessary.
How many treatments?
This depends on many variables; skin tone, hair colour, texture, area being treated and the laser technology used. Hair growth is influenced by many factors like age, ethnicity, hormones, medication, metabolism, weight gain and genetics all play a part in hair location, thickness and resilience. On average, most clients require 6 treatments. Treatments are spaced 4-8weeks apart. Fewer treatments are needed if your goal is simply to reduce shaving and maintenance.
What results can I expect?
In practice no laser destroys every hair follicle. Some follicles are destroyed, others are miniaturized into fine hairs, and others are shocked into prolonged dormancy. True “permanent hair removal” can ultimately be achieved, but not for every single hair in a given area. Results can vary. Our bell curve performance is 75% to 90% reduction. As with all medical treatments, results are not guaranteed.
Are there any side effects?
Short-term side effects may include: Redness and swelling around the hair follicle, a slight rash may occur on areas that are difficult to exfoliate such as where ingrown hairs are present, and burns or blisters are possible but rare.
Facial Questions
What if I don't know what kind of facial I need? Don't worry, our professional estheticians will do a full skin and lifestyle evaluation to make the best decision for your skin care goals and needs.
How should I prepare my skin before a facial? Avoid products with strong active ingredients, try to avoid sun exposure and be prepared to relax and enjoy your facial.
What should I do to keep my facial glow after my facial? We always suggest avoiding exercise, saunas and hot tubs for a minimum of 12 hours after your facial. Also change your pillow case the same day as your facial. If your facial is later in the day you can avoid washing your face before bed.
How often should I get a facial? If you are getting a treatment or series of facials we will advise when the next one should be booked. If you are getting a Cheeky facial ie. a anti-age facial you can book one monthly, seasonally or when you need to treat yourself!
